To create this rounded box, I made a square box then rough cut gentle curves on all aspects of the piece. These curves are smoothed using a hand plane and card scraper. The effect is very pleasing to the eye with a gentle arched bottom gracefully flowing into the top. The overall size of the piece is 12 1/2" long x 8 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" tall, the inside is 10 3/4" x 6 3/4" x 2 1/2" deep. The top is a Walnut & Maple frame around a Figuard Anegre top the box body is Tiger Maple on the front & back and Cherry on the sides.
There is a 1" deep x 6 3/4" square Lift out tray.
Lining color is black. The finish is hand rubbed Tung & Linseed oil with a wax top coat.
